How to Install and Configure TP-link Wireless Router – TP–Link router are including an High Speed Cable Modems, wireless routers, mobile phones, ADSL, range extenders, routers, switches, IP cameras, power line adapters, print servers, media converters, wireless adapters, power banks, USB Hub and SMART home technology devices. TP–Link router also manufactured the On Hub router for Google.
How to install TP-link wireless router:-
A router is a box that allows multiple computers, smart phones, and so on to join the same network. From there, as well as the Tp-link wireless router is typically connected to a modem in order to provide an Internet connection to any device that is connected to the router. Hence this guide aims to help you through the first time setup process for your router.
As well as in the box you may have some of the following:-
- The router’s power supply or charger.
- Device manual.
- Driver disc (for some models).
- USB cable (for some models).
- Network cable (for some models).
1. Connect Power:-
- Locate the power cable as well as connect it to a power source like an outlet or surge protector.
- Hence they plug in the other end of the router power cable to the router’s power input, which is typically located in the rear.
- Your router should power on.
2. Connect to Modem by Cable/Wire
As well as your router must be connected to a modem in order to provide the local network with an Internet connection.

- If the address does not work, check the bottom of the router to confirm the default access address. You can also try to connect via IP address (example: http://192.168.1.1 or http://10.0.0.1).

4. Select Password

- Don’t use short passwords; computers can guess them very easily.
- Don’t use a common word you can find in a dictionary.
- They don’t using the information that can be looked up or guessed, such as a birthday, anniversary, or pet’s name.
- Don’t use the same password for everything. Hence if one password is compromised, all of the same ones are compromised across all your accounts.
- Don’t share passwords. As well as people with your password “are you” to a computer system, or a service.
- Don’t keep the same password forever. Hence Assume that, at some point, it will be guessed, seen, or otherwise Compromised, and it must be changed.
- Don’t write down passwords in the open, or save them in non-encrypted files on your computer.
5. Change SSID and Password
After logging-in the router’s user interface:
- Click on Wireless 2.4 then Wireless Settings.
- Confirm or change the Network Name. As well as the network name (or SSID) is the name others will see when searching for available wireless networks in the area. As well as on some models you must click Advanced, Wireless, as well as then Wireless Settings in order to change the network name.
- Next, click on Wireless Security and type your new password. Scroll down and click Save.
- For Version, select WPA2-PSK:- One some models you must select the Security and then the Version. Choose WPA/WPA2 – Personal and WPA2-PSK.
- Enter the password you have chosen in the box next to Password
- Once complete, click Save.
- Your wireless security settings have now been updated and your devices may connect to it.
1. Any time you change your Tp-Link wireless router security settings you will need to reconnect your wireless devices.
- If your tp-link wireless router is dual-band, meaning it has a 2.4 and a 5 GHz network you may need to repeat the steps listed above for each network because each network may be controlled individually. Hence you must use different network names for each band.
- As well as your Tp-link router has a guest network you will need to repeat the steps listed above for the guest network because it is controlled separately.
- Keeping Your Password Secure
Hence some precautions should be taken in order to keep your password secure.
How to configure your TP-Link Router in Access Point mode:-
Step 1:- Connect your computer to a second LAN port on your TP-Link wireless N router using an Ethernet cable. Login to the TP-Link wireless router web interface through the IP address listed on the label on the rock bottom of your TP-Link N router. Note:– Though possible, it’s not recommended to aim this process over Wi-Fi
Step 2:- Hence Go to Network>LAN on the side menu and change the LAN IP address of your TP-Link N router to an IP address on the same segment of the main router. Hence this IP address should be outside the main router’s DHCP range. Example: Hence if the DHCP of your main Tp-Link wireless router is 192.168.2.100 – 192.168.2.199. Note:- After changing the LAN IP address a reboot is going to be required and you’ll have to log into the TP-Link N router with the new IP address.
Step 3:- Hence Go to Wireless>Wireless Settings and configure the SSID (Network name)which can be the same or different from the main router’s. Select Save.
Step 4:- They Go to Wireless>Wireless Security and configure the wireless security. WPA/WPA2-Personal is recommended as the most secure option. Once configured, click Save. Note:- If employing a dual band router, repeat this process for the 5GHz band also.
Step 5:- They Go to DHCP>DHCP Settings and select Disable the DHCP Server. Select Save.
Step 6:- Hence Go to System Tools>Reboot and select Reboot to reboot the device.
Step 7:- As well as using a coaxial cable to attach the most router to your TP-Link N router through their LAN ports (any LAN ports could also be used). All other LAN ports on your TP-Link wireless N router will now grant devices Internet access. Alternatively, any Wi-Fi device can now access the Internet through your TP-Link wireless N router by using the SSID and Password set up in the above steps.
